Clarington survives Little Britain comeback, wins 3-2

The Little Britain Merchants tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Clarington Eagles held on for a 3-2 victory.

Clarington made the score 3-1 on a goal by Brodie Myers at 8:38 in the third period, and Little Britain got as close as 3-2 when Kenzie Smith scored 9:31 into the third period.

The Eagles were led by Myers, who had one goal.

Clarington's offense operated below its season average. The Eagles average 5.5 goals per game. Clarington's offense rang up 35 shots on the Merchants' net.

Clarington also had goals scored by Darby Medd and Collin Weston, who scored one goal each. More assists for Clarington came via Austin Collins, Dylan Howorko, Justin Holiad, and Kevin Smith, who contributed one each.

Little Britain kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zack Wainman made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Jesse Craig also scored for Little Britain. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Aidan Renouf, who had one and Terry Snoddon, who had two.

Clarington totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Eagles, Ben Pitchforth was ejected from the game. Garrett Haden rejected 32 shots on goal for the Merchants. Little Britain totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Merchants ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Keegan Cairns was ejected from the game.
