Lakefield holds on for 3-2 win against Uxbridge

The Uxbridge Bruins tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Lakefield Chiefs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Lakefield took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Uxbridge storm back on a Quintino Zarlenga goal 17:16 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Chiefs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 38 penalty minutes.

Lakefield forced the Bruins goalie Branden Francey to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Chiefs had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 11 chances.

Lakefield was led by Eric Oosting, who racked up one goal and one assist. Oosting scored 7:33 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Lakefield. Dalton Hill assisted on the tally. Lakefield also had goals scored by Jeff Hawthorne and Jack Vautour, who scored one goal each. More assists for Lakefield came via Jayd Killingbeck and Ethan Schott, who each chipped in one.

The Chiefs were unable to stop Uxbridge from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bruins eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Uxbridge was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 36 penalty minutes.

Uxbridge also got a goal from Wes Cowie as well. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Coby Gardner, Shane Smith, and Aiden Reilly, who contributed one each.

Scott Smith rejected 35 shots on goal for Lakefield. Francey recorded 36 saves for the Bruins. Uxbridge registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
