Lakefield wins tough contest against Port Perry, 4-2Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Nov 08, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Lakefield Chiefs and the Port Perry Mojacks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Lakefield emerged with a 4-2 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jack Vautour's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Chiefs were paced by Vautour, who grabbed one goal. Vautour scored 3:29 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Lakefield. Eric Oosting provided the assist. Lakefield's offense rang up 49 shots on Port Perry's net. Lakefield additionally got points from Oosting, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lakefield also had goals scored by Jeff Hawthorne and Connor Ellis, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Jayd Killingbeck, who had two and Brendan Sampson, Dalton Hill, and Keenan Runnalls, who contributed one each. The Mojacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Port Perry was held below its usual level of production. The Mojacks average 4.2 goals per game. Port Perry forced the Chiefs goalie Scott Smith to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Mojacks were helped by Lucas Clark, who finished with one goal. Clark scored 13:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Schweda picked up the assist. Konrad Piorkowski also scored for Port Perry. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Graham Lamers and Jeff St. Pierre, who each chipped in one. Lakefield's Smith stopped 39 shots out of the 41 that he faced.
