Uxbridge beats Port Perry 2-1 after comeback scareScugog Memorial Arena Sun, Nov 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Perry Mojacks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Uxbridge Bruins held on for a 2-1 victory. A goal by Kyle Spataro put Uxbridge up 2-0 in the first period, but Port Perry pulled to within one on Graham Lamers's tally 1:00 into the third period. The Bruins' Jake Joosten was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 44 saves and let only one puck past him. Joosten certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.0 entering the contest. Uxbridge's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Port Perry power plays. The Bruins' offense rang up 35 shots on the Mojacks' net. Uxbridge could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Uxbridge also got a goal from Thomas Sheedy as well. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Jordan Nesbitt, Coby Gardner, Shane Smith, and Liam Timewell, who contributed one each. Port Perry was held below its usual level of production. The Mojacks put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Port Perry's offense rang up 45 shots on the Bruins' net. The Mojacks struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. More assists for Port Perry came via Jeff St. Pierre, who had one. Blake Shaw made 33 saves for Port Perry on 35 shots.
