Renouf nets hat trick, leads Little Britain to 6-4 win over Lakefield

Aidan Renouf netted a hat trick to lead the Little Britain Merchants over the Lakefield Chiefs, 6-4.

Renouf got on the scoresheet 12:37 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:01 into the second and at 16:58 into the third.

Little Britain forced Lakefield goalie Scott Smith to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Little Britain also got points from Kenzie Smith, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Reed Westington, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Little Britain also got a goal from Owen Fawns as well. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Jordan Sharpe, Nathan Watson, and Blake Abbott, who contributed one each.

The Chiefs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Lakefield kept the Merchants' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Harris made 38 saves on 42 shots.

The Chiefs were led by Eric Oosting, who had three goals. Jayd Killingbeck also scored for Lakefield. More assists for Lakefield came via Jordan MacLean and Jackson Bellamy, who each chipped in one and Jeff Hawthorne and Aaron Vatcher, who contributed two each.

Little Britain incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Smith rejected 37 shots on goal for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Lakefield ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Colton Armstrong was ejected from the game.
