North Kawartha holds on for 4-3 win against Little Britain

The Little Britain Merchants tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the North Kawartha Knights held on for a 4-3 victory.

North Kawartha took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Little Britain storm back on a Kenzie Smith goal 18:14 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Nick Mann had a great game for the Knights, netting two goals.

North Kawartha excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Knights' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Others who scored for North Kawartha included Cameron Medland and Ed Whitmore, who each put in one. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Joe Dodds, Jacob Scriver, Russell Fontyn, Ethan Coens, and Matt Douglas, who contributed one each.

The Merchants' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six North Kawartha power plays. Little Britain's offense rang up 37 shots on North Kawartha's net. The Merchants were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Little Britain also got points from Jesse Craig, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Little Britain also got a goal from Terry Snoddon as well. More assists for Little Britain came via Owen Fawns, Phil Koufis, and Keegan Cairns, who each chipped in one.

Spencer Green recorded 34 saves for the Knights. North Kawartha incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Little Britain's Kyle Tomilson stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced.
