Uxbridge's comeback falls short, Lakefield wins 4-2Uxbridge Arena Fri, Oct 23, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Uxbridge Bruins almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Lakefield Chiefs managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end. Lakefield led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Chiefs' Keenan Runnalls scored on the power play at 12:08 in the second period to put Lakefield up 3-0. Eric Oosting had a great game for the Chiefs, netting two goals. Oosting found the back of the net 16:02 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lakefield and again while 19:46 into the third to make the score 4-2 Lakefield. Lakefield's penalty kill excelled, as the Chiefs gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:43 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Lakefield's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The Chiefs surpassed its season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. Lakefield also got points from Runnalls, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jayd Killingbeck also scored for Lakefield. More assists for Lakefield came via Jeff Hawthorne, who had two and Josh Duggan and Nick Hildebrand, who each chipped in one. Lakefield was unable to stop Uxbridge from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bruins eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Uxbridge was helped by Quintino Zarlenga, who grabbed one goal. Zarlenga scored 16:13 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Lakefield. Adam Bartholomew provided the assist. Uxbridge also got a goal from Shane Smith as well. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Marco Mastrangelo and Dylan Pollard, who contributed one each. Scott Smith rejected 31 shots on goal for the Chiefs. Lakefield registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Chiefs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Duggan was ejected from the game. The Bruins' Branden Francey stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Uxbridge ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Bruins, Alex Siblock was ejected from the game.
