Clarington survives Little Britain comeback, wins 5-3

The Clarington Eagles survived a determined comeback attempt by the Little Britain Merchants on the way to a 5-3 win.

A goal by Brent Hambly put Clarington up 5-2 in the third period, but Little Britain pulled to within two on Kenzie Smith's tally 14:38 into the third period.

The Eagles got the win with help from a great game by Brodie Myers, who had one goal and two assists. Myers scored 17:50 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Clarington.

Clarington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Clarington additionally got points from Hambly, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Collin Weston, who also had one goal and one assist. Austin Collins also scored for Clarington. More assists for Clarington came via Darby Medd, who had one and Mackenzie Morissette, who had two.

The Merchants' offense rang up 34 shots on the Eagles' net.

Little Britain was helped by Marcus Everson AP, who registered one goal. Everson AP scored 5:33 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Clarington. Mitchell Brown picked up the assist. Little Britain also got points from Terry Snoddon, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Brant Foster and Keegan Cairns, who contributed one each.

Clarington's Brett Chandler stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Eagles incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Adam Harris recorded 25 saves for the Merchants. Little Britain incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Merchants ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jesse Beers was ejected from the game.
