Lakefield wins tough contest against Port Perry, 4-3Lakefield-Smith CC Tue, Oct 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Lakefield Chiefs and the Port Perry Mojacks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Lakefield emerged with a 4-3 win. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Eric Oosting at 8:42 of the third period. Oosting was all over the ice for the Chiefs, as he racked up two goals in the win. Penalties took their toll on Lakefield, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Lakefield additionally got points from Jeff Hawthorne, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Lakefield also got a goal from Colton Armstrong as well. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Dalton Hill, who had one and Jack Vautour, who had two. Port Perry kept the Chiefs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Smith made 36 saves on 39 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Mojacks were helped by Mitchell Gustavsen, who registered one goal. Gustavsen scored 2:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. Konrad Piorkowski assisted on the tally. Port Perry also had goals scored by Dan Harris and Andrew Pickering, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Ben Kerry and Ethan Ramsden, who contributed one each. Lakefield incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Port Perry's Blake Shaw stopped 18 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Mojacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
