Lakefield wins tough contest against Georgina, 5-3Georgina Ice Palace Fri, Oct 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Lakefield Chiefs and the Georgina Ice was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Lakefield emerged with a 5-3 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jeff Hawthorne at 3:07 of the second period. Eric Oosting was all over the ice for the Chiefs, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Oosting scored 5:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. In the losing effort, Georgina was paced by Dustin Brillinger, who racked up two goals. Brillinger scored the first of his two goals at 15:30 into the first period to make the score 2-2. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Brady Osborne APM, who had two and Dalton Hill and Aaron Vatcher, who each chipped in one. The Ice stifled the Chiefs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Matt McGlade also scored for Georgina. More assists for Georgina came via Mark Gavrilov, who had one and Bradley Boudreau, who had two. Brad Smith made 25 saves for Lakefield on 28 shots. The Chiefs totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. For Lakefield, Connor Ellis was ejected from the game. Georgina's Emilio Gallenero stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Ice ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Georgina ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cameron Cattell was ejected from the game.
