Clarington downs Uxbridge, 6-2

The Uxbridge Bruins fell to the Clarington Eagles, 6-2.

Clarington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Uxbridge to score on any of its five power plays. The Bruins were unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Clarington eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

The Eagles were led by Brodie Myers, who tallied one goal and one assist. Myers scored on the power play 15:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. A head contact penalty on Coby Gardner had put Clarington on the power play. Dylan Howorko picked up the assist. Clarington additionally got points from Collin Weston, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Clarington included Liam Rowe, who had two and Brent Hambly and Darby Medd, who each put in one. In addition, Clarington received assists from Kevin Smith, who had one and Mitchell Marchbank and Cody Kean, who each chipped in two.

Uxbridge forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Bruins surpassed its season average of 37.0 penalty minutes per game. Uxbridge was held below its usual level of production. The Bruins put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game.

Uxbridge was led by Nicholas Sribny, who grabbed one goal. Sribny scored 2:41 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Clarington. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Quintino Zarlenga, who had one.

Mark Robb made 19 saves for the Eagles on 21 shots. Clarington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Branden Francey recorded 33 saves for the Bruins. Uxbridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Wes Cowie was ejected from the game.
