Little Britain survives Lakefield comeback, wins 4-3

The Lakefield Chiefs tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Little Britain Merchants would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Jesse Craig put Little Britain up 4-1 in the third period, but Lakefield pulled to within one on Riley Campbell's tally 16:41 into the third period.

Craig had a great game for the Merchants, netting two goals.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:01 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Little Britain forced the Chiefs goalie Michael Christie to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Merchants' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Little Britain finished with 32 penalty minutes.

Little Britain additionally got points from Terry Snoddon, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Little Britain also got a goal from Aidan Renouf as well. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Jacob Phillips, Jesse Beers, Keegan Cairns, and Reed Westington, who contributed one each.

Lakefield stifled the Merchants' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chiefs kept Little Britain's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Harris made 28 saves on 31 shots. Lakefield found itself short handed often, totaling 30 penalty minutes and allowing three power plays.

Lakefield also got points from Jeff Hawthorne, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Lakefield came via Aaron Vatcher, who had two and Keenan Runnalls and Eric Oosting, who each chipped in one.

For the Merchants, Renouf and Kenzie Smith were ejected from the contest. Michael Christie made 30 saves for the Chiefs on 34 shots. Lakefield registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Team's Runnalls and Thomas Hogarth were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
