Uxbridge stifles Lakefield's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Uxbridge Bruins came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Lakefield Chiefs, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Uxbridge led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Bruins' Adam Bartholomew scored on the power play at 11:42 in the second period to put Uxbridge up 3-0.

The Bruins pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Uxbridge was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of nine man advantages.

The Bruins were helped by Wes Cowie, who racked up one goal. Cowie scored 2:27 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Uxbridge. Aiden Reilly picked up the assist. Uxbridge also got points from Daryl Thomson, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Marco Mastrangelo, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Jordan Nesbitt and Brady Baker, who each chipped in one.

Lakefield had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. The Chiefs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 32 penalty minutes.

Lakefield was helped by Aaron Vatcher, who registered one goal. Vatcher scored on the power play 16:30 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Uxbridge. The Chiefs had gotten the advantage when Uxbridge's Alex Siblock was sent off for slashing. Lakefield also got a goal from Colton Armstrong as well. More assists for Lakefield came via Keenan Runnalls, who had one.

Brandon Francey recorded 23 saves for the Bruins. Brad Smith made 16 saves for Lakefield on 20 shots. Team's Josh Duggan and Riley Campbell were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
