Early goals doom North Kawartha, falls to Port Perry, 6-1

A four-goal first period deficit cost the North Kawartha Knights, which could not recover and fell to the Port Perry Mojacks, 6-1.

Port Perry's penalty kill excelled, as the Mojacks gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Port Perry was led by Konrad Piorkowski, who racked up one goal. Piorkowski scored 6:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Perry. Kyle Schweda provided the assist.

The Mojacks forced Knights' goalies to work in net, racking up 50 shots and forcing 44 saves. Spencer Green made 34 stops and Jake Ireland made 10. Port Perry stifled North Kawartha's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Port Perry also got points from Schweda, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Connor MacEachern, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Port Perry included Josh Anderson and Ryan Bernardes, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Dan Harris, Chris Polito, and Graham Lamers, who each chipped in one.

The Knights did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. North Kawartha puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Knights found themselves short handed often, totaling 36 penalty minutes and allowing 10 power plays.

Cooper Howieson rejected 22 shots on goal for the Mojacks. Port Perry incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
