North Kawartha downs Uxbridge in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The North Kawartha Knights pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Uxbridge Bruins on a clutch goal by Jesse Douglas.

Uxbridge could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. North Kawartha made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Cameron Medland at 15:57 in the second period. The Bruins pulled to within 4-3 on a goal by Daryl Thomson at 18 seconds in the third period.

The Knights got the win on the strength of a great game by Douglas, who had two goals and one assist. Douglas scored the first of his two goals at 6:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Kawartha. Russell Fontyn assisted on the tally. Douglas' next tally made the score 5-4 North Kawartha with 19:20 left in overtime. Medland picked up the assist.

Uxbridge was unable to stop North Kawartha from sending pucks towards the net, and the Knights eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. North Kawartha was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances.

North Kawartha additionally got points from Fontyn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ethan Coens, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Medland, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Zack Pearson, Mitch Stewart, and Christian Lachapelle, who each chipped in one.

The Bruins' offense rang up 39 shots on the Knights' net.

Uxbridge also got a goal from Thomas Swift as well. More assists for Uxbridge came via Marco Mastrangelo, who had two and Adam Bartholomew, Shane Smith, and Brady Baker, who contributed one each.

Spencer Green recorded 35 saves for North Kawartha. The Knights incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jake Joosten rejected 30 shots on goal for Uxbridge. The Bruins incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
