Schweda leads Port Perry over Lakefield, 3-1

Kyle Schweda was all over the ice for the Port Perry Mojacks, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Port Perry's 3-1 win over the Lakefield Chiefs.

Schweda beat Brad Smith with a shot 10:07 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Port Perry. Konrad Piorkowski picked up the assist. Schweda dished an assist on Andrew Pickering's goal that made the score 2-1 Port Perry at 4:34 into the third period. He added another helper on Dan Harris's goal that made the score 3-1 Port Perry at 4:46 into the third period.

Lakefield's power play was ineffective against the Mojacks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Port Perry excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Mojacks' offense rang up 35 shots on the Chiefs' net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Lakefield stifled Port Perry's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chiefs' offense operated below their season average. Lakefield averages 3.3 goals per game.

The Chiefs were led by Jayd Killingbeck, who scored the team's only goal. Killingbeck scored 15:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Nelson APM assisted on the tally.

The Mojacks' Blake Shaw stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Port Perry incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Smith rejected 32 shots on goal for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
