Myers nets hat trick, leads Clarington to 9-2 win over North Kawartha

A hat trick by Brodie Myers was the highlight in Eagles' 9-2 win against the North Kawartha Knights.

Myers notched his first tally 1:24 into the second period. He then added goals at 2:09 into the second and at 11:32 into the third.

North Kawartha's power play was ineffective against the Clarington Eagles' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Clarington forced the Knights' netminders to work all game long, ripping 40 shots and forcing 31 saves. Jake Ireland made 24 stops and Spencer Green made seven. The Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Clarington's goal total was higher than its season average. The Eagles have scored at the pace of 5.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Clarington also got points from Ben Pitchforth, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Brent Hambly, who also registered two goals and two assists, and Kevin Smith, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Darby Medd also scored for Clarington. In addition, Clarington received assists from Justin Holiad, who had three and Austin Collins and William Lamoureux, who each chipped in one.

Clarington was unable to stop North Kawartha from sending pucks towards the net, and the Knights eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

North Kawartha was helped by Christian Lachapelle, who tallied one goal and one assist. Lachapelle scored 3:56 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Clarington. Justin Thain provided the assist. North Kawartha also got a goal from Connor Gourlie as well. More assists for North Kawartha came via Shane Patterson, who had one.

Brett Chandler rejected 29 shots on goal for the Eagles. Clarington incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. The Knights incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
