Port Perry blows out Georgina, 5-1

The Port Perry Mojacks were firing on all cylinders against the Georgina Ice, and when the final buzzer sounded Mojacks emerged with a 5-1 win.

Georgina's 17 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Ice let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Port Perry was paced by Graham Lamers, who registered one goal. Lamers scored on the power play 19:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Perry. The Mojacks had gotten the advantage when Georgina's Jonathon Kaye was sent off for tripping. Todd McNair picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 20:00 into the second period. Twelve fighting penalties were dished out along with 10 game misconducts.

Port Perry racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and three majors for 45 minutes in penalty time. The Mojacks surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Port Perry excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Ice were unable to stop the Mojacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Perry eventually piled up 57 shots on goal.

Port Perry additionally got points from McNair, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Port Perry included Ethan Ramsden, Ryan Bernardes, and Jeff St. Pierre, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Dan Harris, who had two and Andrew Pickering, Kyle Schweda, Bryce Patterson, and Lucas Clark, who contributed one each.

Georgina forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 13 minors and four majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 29.0 minutes per game the Ice had been spending in the box.

Georgina was led by Mark Gavrilov, who scored the team's only goal. Gavrilov scored 19:39 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. Kaye assisted on the tally.

Cooper Howieson recorded 21 saves for the Mojacks. For Port Perry, Quinn Bryant-McKay, Schweda, Patterson, and Ramsden were ejected from the contest. The Ice's Emilio Gallenero stopped 52 shots out of the 57 that he faced. Team's Rory McCarthy, Adrian Addante, Ryan Baggs, and Tanner Tomlinson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
