Uxbridge rips North Kawartha, 6-2North Kawartha CC Sat, Sep 19, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Uxbridge Bruins were firing on all cylinders against the North Kawartha Knights, and when the final buzzer sounded Bruins emerged with a 6-2 win. Uxbridge got the win behind a great game by Marco Mastrangelo, who had one goal and two assists. Mastrangelo scored 4:21 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Uxbridge. Daryl Thomson picked up the assist. North Kawartha's power play was ineffective against the Bruins' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Uxbridge racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 16 minors and one major for 77 minutes in penalty time. The Bruins surpassed its season average of 54.0 penalty minutes per game. Uxbridge put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Knights to score on any of their 19 power plays. Uxbridge also got points from Thomson, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Alex Siblock, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Uxbridge also got a goal from Shane Smith as well. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Adam Bartholomew, Nicholas Sribny, and Thomas Sheedy, who contributed one each. North Kawartha's offense operated below its season average. The Knights average 4.3 goals per game. North Kawartha was helped by Jesse Douglas, who registered one goal. Douglas scored 1:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cameron Medland provided the assist. Shane Patterson also scored for North Kawartha. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Russell Fontyn and Braden MacDonald, who each chipped in one. The Bruins' Jake Joosten stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Uxbridge registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Bruins, Jordan Nesbitt was ejected from the game. Jake Ireland rejected 20 shots on goal for the Knights. North Kawartha incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
