Georgetown downs Orangeville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Alder St. Recreation Centre Sat, Feb 27, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Matthew Cairns gave the Georgetown Raiders a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Orangeville Flyers when he scored 4:34 into the extra period. Georgetown came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Raiders trailed 4-1 after a goal by Orangeville's Travis Brown at 10:16 in the second period. Georgetown knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Jordan Crocker at 33 seconds in the third period. Cairns had one goal and two assists to lead the Raiders. The Flyers were unable to stop Georgetown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. Georgetown struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Georgetown also got points from Jack Jacome, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Georgetown also had goals scored by Bailey Molella and Anthony Mota, who each put in one. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jake Payette, Zack Dybowski, Daniel Hardie, Ashur Elliot, and Brendan Jacome, who each chipped in one. Orangeville forced the Raiders' goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 40 shots and forcing 36 saves. Billy Day made 29 stops and Andrew Masters made seven. Orangeville also got a goal from Jarret Woon Sam as well. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Ryan Barbosa, who had two and John DiLorenzo, Colin Rigney, Daniel DeRose, Jaden Peca, Kosta Likourezos, and Ruan Badenhorst, who contributed one each. Georgetown registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Ruan Badenhorst made 47 saves for the Flyers on 52 shots. Orangeville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
