Newmarket falls to Cobourg in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Cobourg Cougars' Brennan Roy scored 1:43 into overtime to beat the Newmarket Hurricanes, 4-3 (OT).

Roy had a great game for Cobourg, netting two goals.

Newmarket's power play was ineffective against the Cougars' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Cobourg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Newmarket power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Cobourg also got points from Ryan Casselman, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Justin Bennett also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Mac Lowry, who had two and Rory Milne and Austin Kozluk, who contributed one each.

The Hurricanes forced the Cougars goalie Stefano Durante to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Newmarket was helped by Mark Rozanov, who registered one goal. Rozanov scored 3:04 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Newmarket. Christian Dedonato picked up the assist. Newmarket additionally got points from Alex Ierullo, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Newmarket also got a goal from Christian Cella as well. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Mitchell Duggan, Ryan Young, and Jonathan Colley, who each chipped in one.

Stefano Durante made 39 saves for Cobourg on 42 shots. The Cougars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Hurricanes' Dalton Ewing stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Newmarket incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
