North York rolls over Orangeville, 7-1

The North York Rangers were firing on all cylinders against the Orangeville Flyers, and when the final buzzer sounded Rangers emerged with a 7-1 win.

Chris Sekelyk was all over the ice for North York, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Sekelyk scored 2:27 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North York. Grayden Gottschalk assisted on the tally.

The Rangers were led by goalie Gianluca Baggetta, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Baggetta will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.99.

North York forced Orangeville's goalies to work all game long, getting 37 shots and forcing 30 saves. Ruan Badenhorst made 13 stops and Nicholas Latinovich made 17. The Rangers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. North York averages 3.8 goals per game.

North York also got points from Ted Hunt, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Michael Morgan, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Gottschalk, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for North York included Tyler Currie and Nick Zanette, who scored one goal each. In addition, North York received assists from Kyle Clarke, Louis Kereakou, Shawn Tessier, Nick Campoli, and Christian Mitri, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Orangeville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Flyers put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

The Rangers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Orangeville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
