Stouffville downs Newmarket in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Stouffville Spirit's Nathan Hudgin scored 4:32 into overtime to beat the Newmarket Hurricanes, 6-5 (OT).

Newmarket could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Stouffville made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Josh Argier at 18:32 in the second period. The Hurricanes got to within 4-3 on a goal by Nick Kalpousos at 8:40 in the third period.

The Spirit kept Newmarket's goalie busy throughout the game, and Aidan Doak made 28 saves on 34 shots. Stouffville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Spirit average 3.5 goals per game. Stouffville cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances.

Stouffville additionally got points from Alex Williamson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Ryan DaSilva, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Stouffville also got a goal from Jack Varga as well. More assists for Stouffville came via Cameron Lintner, who had two, Christian Papineau, who had three, and Justin Mahabir and Max Novick, who each chipped in one.

The Spirit were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Newmarket eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Newmarket also got points from Max Routledge, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Mark Rozanov, who also registered one goal and one assist. Newmarket also had goals scored by Owen Ramsay and Marco Bozzo, who each put in one. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Alex Ierullo and Christian Dedonato, who contributed one each and Andrew Breda and Blake Coffey, who each chipped in two.

Aaron Taylor made 33 saves for Stouffville on 38 shots. The Spirit incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Stouffville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Varga was ejected from the game. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Newmarket, Christian Cella was ejected from the game.
