St. Michaels beats Milton 5-4 after comeback scare

The Milton Icehawks tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the St. Michaels Buzzers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

St. Michaels made the score 4-0 on a goal by Lucas Breault at 19:01 in the first period, and Milton got as close as 5-4 when Devin Pierce scored 17:17 into the third period.

The Buzzers were led by Colton Trumbla, who registered one goal. Trumbla scored 14:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Michaels. Breault assisted on the tally.

St. Michaels forced the Icehawks goalie Jakob DeVincentis to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

St. Michaels also got points from Breault, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Michaels also got a goal from Thomas Beretta as well. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from David Martino, Brad Cocca, Anthony Paveglio, and A.J. Dorazio, who contributed one each and Noah Jordan and Michael Andlauer, who each chipped in two.

Milton managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Icehawks finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Buzzers were unable to stop Milton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Icehawks eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Milton was led by Anthony Filoso, who racked up two goals and one assist. Filoso scored the first of his two goals at 12:03 into the second period to make the score 4-1 St. Michaels. Alejandro Maese picked up the assist. Filoso's next tally made the score 5-3 St. Michaels with 13:12 left in the third period. Pierce provided the assist. Milton additionally got points from Pierce, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. William Santangeli also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Andrew Petrucci, who had two and Brad Lindsay, Ryan Ngan, and Tyler Longo, who contributed one each.

Jacob McGrath rejected 41 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. DeVincentis recorded 26 saves for the Icehawks. Milton registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
