Valko leads Markham over Lindsay, 7-2

Brendan Valko was all over the ice for the Markham Royals, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Markham's 7-2 win over the Lindsay Muskies.

Valko scored on the power play 6:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Markham. The Royals had taken the advantage when Lindsay's Braeden Kublick got sent off for cross checking. Hudson Michaelis assisted on the tally. Valko dished an assist on Michaelis' goal that made the score 1-1 at 19:42 into the first period. He added another helper on Brandon Washer's goal that made the score 2-1 Markham at 4:23 into the second period.

The Muskies were unable to stop Markham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Royals eventually piled up 56 shots on goal. Markham surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Royals average 3.7 goals per contest.

Markham also got points from Washer, who also had one goal and one assist and Michaelis, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Markham included Laine McKay, who had two and Joseph Teofilo and Tyson Bruce, who each put in one. In addition, Markham received assists from Aaron Spivak, who had two, Matthew Dunlop, who had three, and Joel Knight and Marco Azzano, who contributed one each.

Lindsay was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes.

The Muskies were helped by Nick Isaacson, who tallied one goal. Isaacson scored on the power play 18:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lindsay. Lindsay had gained a power play chance when Brett Markham was whistled for tripping. Cedric Ralph picked up the assist. Lindsay also got a goal from Cameron Harris as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lindsay were Dayton Kent and Brock Traill, who each chipped in one.

Marcus Semiao rejected 19 shots on goal for Markham. The Royals incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sean Green recorded 49 saves for the Muskies. Lindsay registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
