The Wellington Dukes relied on the scoring touch of Dylan Mascarin, who netted two goals, to beat the Markham Royals, 6-3. Mascarin's tallies came at 12:07 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Wellington and on the power play 18:08 into the third to make the score 5-3 Wellington.Markham was unable to stop Wellington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dukes eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Wellington found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Dukes average 3.7 goals per game. Wellington's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Royals' power play unit. Wellington additionally got points from Justin Bean, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Wellington included Nicolas Mucci, Ben Sokay, and Matt Adams, who each put in one. More assists for Wellington came via Jacob Panetta, who had two, Luc Brown, who had four, and Chase St Aubin and William Ward, who each chipped in one. Markham's offense rang up 33 shots on the Dukes' net. The Royals were helped by Marco Azzano, who racked up one goal and one assist. Azzano scored on the power play 4:41 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A high sticking penalty on Sokay had put Markham on the power play. Laine McKay picked up the assist. Markham also got points from McKay, who also had one goal and one assist. Sean Perichak also scored for Markham. In addition, Markham received assists from Matthew Dunlop, Aaron Spivak, Rylee St. Onge, and Tyson Bruce, who contributed one each. Olivier Lafreniere rejected 30 shots on goal for Wellington. The Dukes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Royals' Scott Smith stopped 41 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Markham incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
