Toronto Jr. Canadiens wins tough contest against St. Michaels, 4-2St. Michaels Rink Fri, Feb 12, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens and the St. Michaels Buzzers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Toronto Jr. Canadiens made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nico Gonzalez at 10:34 of the second period. Lucas Colalillo had two goals to lead the Junior Canadiens to victory. Colalillo scored at 15:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Toronto Jr. Canadiens and again while 6:47 into the third to make the score 4-2 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Toronto Jr. Canadiens forced St. Michaels goalie Jacob McGrath to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. The Junior Canadiens struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. Michael Siddall also scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. More assists for Toronto Jr. Canadiens came via George Novachis, who had two and Anthony Trujillo, Jake Joffe, Gianfranco Cassaro, and Nicholas Jarzabek, who contributed one each. The Buzzers were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. St. Michaels surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. The Buzzers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Toronto Jr. Canadiens to score on any of its five power plays. The Junior Canadiens were unable to stop St. Michaels from sending pucks towards the net, and the Buzzers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. St. Michaels was helped by Cameron Searles, who finished with one goal. Searles scored on the power play 4:54 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The Buzzers had gotten the advantage when Toronto Jr. Canadiens' Trujillo was sent off for tripping. Noah Jordan assisted on the tally. St. Michaels also got a goal from Thomas Beretta as well. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Mark Paolini and A.J. Dorazio, who each chipped in one. The Junior Canadiens' Brendan Bonello stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. McGrath rejected 45 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sean Kohler was ejected from the game.
