Taylor leads Whitby over Milton, 8-3Milton Memorial Arena Fri, Feb 12, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Fury's Ryan Taylor had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 8-3 win over the Milton Icehawks. Taylor found the back of the net on the power play 7:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby and again while 16:02 into the second to make the score 6-1 Whitby.Whitby's penalty kill excelled, as the Fury gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. Whitby forced Milton's netminders to work all game long, launching 44 shots and forcing 36 saves. Matt Whetham made 30 stops and Jakob DeVincentis made six. The Fury bested their season scoring average. Whitby averages 3.3 goals per game. The Fury were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of nine man advantages. Whitby additionally got points from Greg Allen, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Nik Coric, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Whitby also got a goal from Ryan Heeps as well. In addition, Whitby received assists from Luke Keenan, who had three, Brock Welsh and Reilly Smith, who each chipped in one, and Kennedy Duguid and Zack Fisher, who contributed two each. Whitby was unable to stop the Icehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Milton eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Icehawks were helped by Andrew Petrucci, who had two goals. Petrucci scored the first of his two goals at 14:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Milton. Graeme MacLean picked up the assist. Petrucci's next tally made the score 7-2 Whitby with 16:41 left in the third period. A cross checking penalty on Duguid had put Milton on the power play. Ryan Ngan assisted on the tally. Milton also got points from Tyler Longo, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Milton came via Brad Lindsay, Anthony Filoso, and Jeff Lindsay, who each chipped in one. Jordon White recorded 35 saves for the Fury. Whitby incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Fury, Austin Ulett was ejected from the game. The Icehawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
