Huge game by Taylor boosts Whitby over Aurora, 3-1

Ryan Taylor had two goals and one assist to lead the Whitby Fury to a 3-1 victory over the Aurora Tigers.

Taylor's tallies came on the power play at 19:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 1:46 into the second to make the score 2-1 Whitby.

Aurora was stymied by Whitby's netminder Daniel Mannella, who stopped 38 shots during the victory. Mannella certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.15 entering the contest.

The Fury's penalty kill excelled, as Whitby gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Fury stifled the Tigers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Whitby also got a goal from Rylee McKinnon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Luke Keenan, who had two and Nik Coric, Ryan Porter, and Scott Kirton, who contributed one each.

Aurora was held below its usual level of production. The Tigers put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Aurora forced Whitby goalie Mannella to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

The Tigers were led by JD Falconer, who scored the team's only goal. Falconer scored 15:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Liam Neuman provided the assist.

The Fury incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alex Fotinos recorded 23 saves for Aurora. The Tigers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
