North York survives Toronto Patriots comeback, wins 5-4

The North York Rangers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Toronto Patriots Patriots on the way to a 5-4 win.

North York made the score 4-2 on a goal by Ted Hunt at 17:08 in the second period, and Toronto Patriots got as close as 4-3 when Eric Eremita scored 2:22 into the third period.

The Rangers were led by Chris Sekelyk, who registered one goal and one assist. Sekelyk scored 10:58 into the third period to make the score 5-4 North York.

North York's offense rang up 50 shots on the Patriots' net. The Rangers was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

North York also had goals scored by Michael Morgan, Louis Kereakou, and Nick Campoli, who scored one goal each. In addition, North York received assists from Tyler Currie, who had two and Jeremy Szabo, Fedor Rudakov, Shawn Tessier, Nick Zanette, and Christian Mitri, who contributed one each.

Toronto Patriots forced North York goalie Jeremie Lintner to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

The Patriots were led by Nick Stuckless, who finished with two goals. Stuckless scored the first of his two goals at 2:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North York. Stuckless' next tally made the score 3-2 North York with 6:42 left in the second period. Logan Blaser assisted on the tally. Toronto Patriots also got a goal from Jeremy Pullara as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Patriots were Daniel Barnes, Louis DiMatteo, Jake Harris, Noah Robinson, and Cole Purboo, who each chipped in one.

Lintner rejected 40 shots on goal for the Rangers. North York incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jacob Standen recorded 45 saves for Toronto Patriots. The Patriots incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Toronto Patriots, Blaser was ejected from the game.
