Huge game by Burrows boosts Stouffville over Whitby, 6-3

The Stouffville Spirit's Chad Burrows had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-3 win over the Whitby Fury.

Burrows scored short handed at 3:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Stouffville and again while one second1 seconds into the third to make the score 4-2 Stouffville.

Stouffville kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Mannella made 25 saves on 31 shots. The Spirit bested their season scoring average. Stouffville averages 3.3 goals per game.

Stouffville additionally got points from Spencer Roberts, who also registered one goal and one assist, Christopher Brill-Morgan, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Nathan Hudgin, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Jack Varga, who had two and Jonathan Yaremko and Connor Evans, who each chipped in one.

The Fury's offense rang up 45 shots on the Spirit's net.

Whitby was helped by Ryan Heeps, who had one goal. Heeps scored on the power play 3:29 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stouffville. The Fury earned a power play opportunity when Stefan Palatsidis was put in the box for roughing after whistle. Kennedy Duguid picked up the assist. Whitby also got points from Zack Fisher, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Whitby also got a goal from Scott Kirton as well. More assists for Whitby came via Greg Allen, Nik Coric, Ryan Porter, and Jeffrey Gauld, who contributed one each.

Aaron Taylor made 42 saves for Stouffville on 45 shots. The Spirit incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Stouffville, Josh Argier was ejected from the game. Whitby incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
