Pickering rips Orangeville, 8-2

The Orangeville Flyers had trouble finding ways to stop the Pickering Panthers, which beat Flyers, 8-2.

Doug Carter quarterbacked Pickering's offense to perfection and bagged four assists in the Panthers' win over Orangeville.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:17 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Pickering forced the Flyers' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 36 shots and forcing 28 saves. Nicholas Latinovich made 25 stops and Jesse Hodgson made three. The Panthers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Pickering averages 3.0 goals per contest. The Panthers got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Pickering also got points from John Hudgin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Kyle Gentles, who also had one goal and one assist, Davis Kuksis, who also registered one goal and one assist, Mitchell Waldron, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Owen Scuralli, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pickering included Tomas Azzano, Austin Veleke, and Kyler Challis, who each put in one. More assists for Pickering came via Robert Clark, Dallas Carter, Walker Hincenbergs, Andrew Hughes, Tiger McDonald, and Kevin Ounjian, who contributed one each.

Orangeville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game the Flyers had been spending in the box. Orangeville's offense rang up 37 shots on Pickering's net.

Mathew Woroniuk made 35 saves for the Panthers on 37 shots. Pickering totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Team's Mackenzie Heber and Hincenbergs were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Flyers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Orangeville, James Ranson and Kosta Likourezos were ejected from the contest.
