North York beats Orangeville 5-3 after comeback scare

The North York Rangers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Orangeville Flyers on the way to a 5-3 win.

A goal by Louis Kereakou put North York up 5-2 in the third period, but Orangeville pulled to within two on Zack Lyons's tally 10:51 into the third period.

The Rangers were sparked by Matthew Galli, who registered one goal. Galli scored 4:20 into the third period to make the score 4-2 North York. Christian Mitri picked up the assist.

North York's offense rang up 33 shots on the Flyers' net.

North York additionally got points from Ryan Hunt, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North York included Ted Hunt and Chris Sekelyk, who each put in one. In addition, North York received assists from Tyler Currie, who had two and Kyle Clarke, Keegan Blasby, Michael Morgan, and Luke Hincenbergs, who each chipped in one.

Orangeville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rangers to score on any of their five power plays. The Flyers kept North York's goalie busy throughout the game, and Gianluca Baggetta made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Orangeville also got points from Kosta Likourezos, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Orangeville came via Josh DeFarias, Jarret Woon Sam, Travis Brown, and Jack Jeffers, who contributed one each.

The Rangers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Nicholas Latinovich rejected 28 shots on goal for Orangeville. The Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
