Richer leads Kingston to shutout victory over Cobourg

The Kingston Voyageurs used a sparkling performance by David Richer to take down the Cobourg Cougars, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Kingston's 1-0 shutout victory.

Colin Tonge's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 2:23 in the third period. Cole Beckstead picked up the assist.

The Voyageurs were led by Tonge, who finished with one goal.

Kingston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Voyageurs' offense operated below their season average. Kingston puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Voyageurs featured an improved defense during the game. Kingston averages 2.7 goals allowed per game. The Voyageurs forced Cobourg goalie Stefano Durante to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

In addition, Kingston received assists from Danny Bosio, who had one.

The Cougars could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Cobourg averages 3.4 goals per game. Kingston was unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Cobourg eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Richer recorded 33 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Cougars' Durante stopped 32 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Cobourg incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
