Garvey lifts Oakville over Mississauga, 6-2

Behind a great game by Ryan Garvey, who had two goals, the Oakville Blades defeated the Mississauga Chargers, 6-2.

Garvey scored at 11:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Oakville and again while 16:26 into the second to make the score 3-1 Oakville.

Oakville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Blades ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Mississauga was unable to stop Oakville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blades eventually piled up 54 shots on goal.

Oakville additionally got points from Patrick Kudla, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Ryan Foss, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jackson Bales, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Bryce Misley also scored for Oakville. In addition, Oakville received assists from Tyler Rollo, Oliver Benwell, and Christian Rajic, who contributed two each.

The Chargers' offense rang up 32 shots on Oakville's net.

Mississauga was led by Scott Docherty, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Docherty scored 33 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Zachery Ribau provided the assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Daniel Heelis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Michael Dischiavi, who had one.

Brendan McGlynn made 30 saves for the Blades on 32 shots. Oakville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Tyler Richardson rejected 48 shots on goal for the Chargers. Mississauga incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
