Oakville uses early goal to top Georgetown, 4-2

The Oakville Blades took the lead against the Georgetown Raiders in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Oakville took over the lead for good with a goal by Peyton Reeves at 12:44 in the first period. Patrick Kudla assisted on the tally.

Georgetown's power play was ineffective against the Blades' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Oakville was paced by Christian Rajic, who registered one goal. Rajic scored on the power play 13:41 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Oakville. The Blades had gotten the advantage when the Raiders' Austin Cho was sent off for tripping. Kudla picked up the assist.

Oakville stifled Georgetown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Oakville also got points from Kudla, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Ryan Garvey, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Oakville received assists from Drew Worrad, who had two and Brendan Doherty and Tyler Rollo, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders forced the Blades goalie Brendan McGlynn to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Georgetown was led by Josh Dickinson, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Dickinson scored 5:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Matthew Cairns assisted on the tally. Jordan Crocker also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via Andrew Court, who had two.

Brendan McGlynn made 39 saves for Oakville on 41 shots. The Blades incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Raiders' Andrew Masters stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Georgetown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
