Toronto Jr. Canadiens beats Orangeville 4-3 after comeback scareAlder St. Recreation Centre Thu, Dec 31, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens survived a determined comeback attempt by the Orangeville Flyers on the way to a 4-3 win. Toronto Jr. Canadiens made the score 3-1 on a goal by Lee Lapid at 13:27 in the second period, and Orangeville got as close as 3-2 when Derek Topatigh scored 57 seconds into the third period. Lapid had two goals to lead the Junior Canadiens to victory. Toronto Jr. Canadiens kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Latinovich made 41 saves on 45 shots. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also had goals scored by Nicholas Jarzabek and Troy Taylor, who each put in one. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Matthew Ferrari, who had two and Andrew Pucci, Carmine Alberga, Anthony Trujillo, and Lucas Colalillo, who contributed one each. Orangeville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Flyers forced the Junior Canadiens goalie Daniel Lopapa to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Orangeville additionally got points from Josh DeFarias, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Orangeville also got a goal from Zack Lyons as well. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Kosta Likourezos, Lucas Smilsky, Callum Cusinato, and Jack Jeffers, who each chipped in one. Lopapa rejected 31 shots on goal for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The Junior Canadiens incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Adam DeLuca was ejected from the game. Orangeville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
