Sekelyk's hat trick boosts Pickering over Aurora, 4-1

Chris Sekelyk netted a hat trick to lead the Pickering Panthers over the Aurora Tigers, 4-1.

Sekelyk notched his first tally 11:22 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:20 into the second and at 18:49 into the third.

Pickering's Troy Paquette was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. Paquette certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.56 entering the contest.

The Panthers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Aurora to score on any of its five power plays.

Pickering also got points from Kennedy Duguid, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Pickering received assists from Davis Kuksis, Tiger McDonald, and Kevin Ounjian, who contributed one each and Doug Carter and Justin Bennett, who each chipped in two.

The Tigers were held below their usual level of production. Aurora averages 3.2 goals per game. The Tigers' offense rang up 31 shots on Pickering's net.

Aurora was led by Ryan Shaw, who scored the team's only goal. Shaw scored 13:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Turenko provided the assist.

The Panthers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Tigers' Joshua Boyko stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Aurora incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
