Stouffville boosted by Taylor's play in net, beats Cobourg 3-1

The Stouffville Spirit relied on the sparkling performance of Aaron Taylor in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Cobourg Cougars.

Stouffville was led by Josh Argier, who registered one goal. Argier scored 7:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stouffville. Calvin Martin assisted on the tally.

Cobourg was unable to stop the Spirit from sending pucks towards the net, and Stouffville eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Stouffville included Chad Burrows and Jackson Savery, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Justin Mahabir, who had two and Zachary Roberts, Spencer Roberts, and Cameron Lintner, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Stouffville power plays. Cobourg was held below its usual level of production. The Cougars put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

Cobourg was led by Ryan Casselman, who scored the team's only goal. Casselman scored on the power play 2:57 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Cougars had gotten the advantage when the Spirit's Sam Hu was sent off for holding. Rory Milne provided the assist.

Stouffville's Taylor stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Spirit incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Stefano Durante rejected 33 shots on goal for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
