Huge game by Evancho boosts Buffalo over Mississauga, 11-4HarborCenter Wed, Nov 25, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Zach Evancho, who had two goals and four assists, the Buffalo Jr. Sabres defeated the Mississauga Chargers, 11-4. Evancho scored on the power play at 6:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 12:00 into the second to make the score 6-1 Buffalo.Mississauga fell victim to a deadly Buffalo power play, which ripped the Chargers for four goals. The Jr. Sabres forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game Buffalo had been spending in the box. The Jr. Sabres forced Mississauga's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 41 shots and forcing 30 saves. Andrew Cipollone made 10 stops and Tyler Richardson made 20. Buffalo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mississauga power plays. The Jr. Sabres found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Buffalo averages 4.1 goals per game. Buffalo also got points from Tim Nicksic, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Bryce Ferrell, who also had one goal and one assist, and David Baskerville, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Buffalo included Joshua Biasillo and Griffin Lunn, who scored two goals each and Christopher Berger and Michael Benaquist Jr., who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Nicholas Bondra, Andrew Pizzo, Dylan Seitz, and Christian Zimmerman, who each chipped in one and Aaron Reinig and Ryan Wheeler, who contributed two each. The Chargers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and two majors for 56 minutes in penalty time. Mississauga surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Chargers were led by Thomas Lattavo, who registered three goals. Scott Docherty also scored for Mississauga. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Stefano Alonzi, who had two and Daniel Pereira, Kevin Bray, Daniel DeSousa, and Brandon Yeamans, who each chipped in one. Brian Kowalski recorded 17 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Benaquist Jr. was ejected from the game. For Mississauga, Jake Harrison and Alexandros Acosta were ejected from the contest.
