Orangeville hangs on, beats Milton 2-1Alder St. Recreation Centre Sat, Nov 21, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Orangeville Flyers took the lead against the Milton Icehawks in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-1 victory. Orangeville took over the lead for good with a goal by Derek Topatigh at 6:18 in the first period. Brett Bannister picked up the assist.The Flyers were led by Travis Brown, who grabbed one goal. Brown scored 8:51 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Orangeville. James Ranson provided the assist. Orangeville forced Icehawks' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 37 shots and forcing 35 saves. Marcus Semiao made 35 stops and Jakob DeVincentis made zero. The Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Milton to score on any of its three power plays. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Jarret Woon Sam, who had one. The Icehawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Orangeville power plays. Milton was led by Drew Nesbitt, who scored the team's only goal. Nesbitt scored 18:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Orangeville. William Santangeli assisted on the tally. Kasimir Krol made 24 saves for Orangeville on 25 shots. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Icehawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
