Stouffville holds on for 5-3 win against St. Michaels

The St. Michaels Buzzers tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Stouffville Spirit held on for a 5-3 victory.

Stouffville took a 5-1 lead during the third period, only to have St. Michaels storm back on a Thomas Beretta goal 17:16 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Spirit were led by Ryan DaSilva, who had one goal and one assist. DaSilva scored 19:14 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Stouffville. Jackson Savery picked up the assist.

Stouffville forced the Buzzers goalie Jacob McGrath to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Spirit surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Stouffville averages 2.7 goals per contest. The Spirit struggled on the penalty kill, allowing St. Michaels to score two power play goals on three chances. The defensemen of Stouffville were also effective in the Buzzers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Stouffville also got points from Calvin Martin, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Christopher Brill-Morgan, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Savery, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stouffville also got a goal from Cameron Lintner as well. More assists for Stouffville came via Sam Hu, who had two and Spencer Roberts, Jonathan Yaremko, and Christian Papineau, who contributed one each.

The Spirit were unable to stop St. Michaels from sending pucks towards the net, and the Buzzers eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Cameron Wright also scored for St. Michaels. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Sam Hunter and Cameron Searles, who each chipped in one and Noah Jordan and A.J. Dorazio, who contributed two each.

Aaron Taylor recorded 33 saves for Stouffville. The Spirit totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Stouffville, Kyle Thomas was ejected from the game. Jacob McGrath made 30 saves for St. Michaels on 35 shots. The Buzzers ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. St. Michaels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitchell Devins-Cann was ejected from the game.
