Toronto Patriots downs Pickering in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Toronto Patriots Patriots pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Pickering Panthers on a clutch goal by Jordan Anderson.

Toronto Patriots was paced by Anderson, who had one goal and one assist. Anderson scored 2:25 into overtime to make the score 5-4 Toronto Patriots. Jeremy Pullara picked up the assist.

The Patriots put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pickering to score on any of its five power plays. Toronto Patriots' offense rang up 43 shots on the Panthers' net. The Patriots bested their season scoring average. Toronto Patriots averages 2.6 goals per game.

Others who scored for Toronto Patriots included Daniel Barnes, Michael Siddall, Jason DiPerna, and Colton Kalezic, who each put in one. In addition, Toronto Patriots received assists from Mario Ferraro, who had three and Andrew Green, Logan Blaser, Connor Beck, Cole Purboo, and Nick Stuckless, who contributed one each.

Pickering's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Toronto Patriots power plays. The Panthers forced the Patriots goalie Jacob Standen to work between the pipes, taking 56 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Pickering was helped by Blake Coffey, who registered one goal. Coffey scored 17:36 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pickering. Chris Sekelyk assisted on the tally. Pickering also got points from Dallas Carter, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Mitchell Waldron, who also had one goal and one assist, and Sekelyk, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Pickering came via Doug Carter, Kennedy Duguid, John Hudgin, and Owen Scuralli, who each chipped in one.

Standen rejected 52 shots on goal for Toronto Patriots. The Patriots incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Mathew Woroniuk recorded 38 saves for the Panthers. Pickering incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
