Orangeville outlasts Toronto Jr. Canadiens, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Orangeville Flyers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Derek Topatigh at 7:39 of the third period.

Orangeville was paced by Topatigh, who racked up one goal and one assist.

The Flyers forced Toronto Jr. Canadiens goalie Daniel Lopapa to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Orangeville additionally got points from James Ranson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Orangeville also had goals scored by Zack Lyons and Ethan Wiseman, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Zack Vukosa, who had three and Connor Stack, Daniel DeRose, and Ryan Barbosa, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Toronto Jr. Canadiens ended up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Junior Canadiens kept Orangeville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kasimir Krol made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens was helped by George Novachis, who finished with one goal. Novachis scored 4:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Adam DeLuca provided the assist. Andrew Pucci also scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Matthew Ferrari, Andrew Mullen, and Eric Eremita, who contributed one each.

The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Daniel Lopapa made 30 saves for the Junior Canadiens on 34 shots. Toronto Jr. Canadiens registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
