Kingston's Rinaldi deadly on offense in 6-2 win against Pickering

Anthony Rinaldi was all over the ice for the Kingston Voyageurs, as he tallied two goals in Kingston's 6-2 win over the Pickering Panthers.

Rinaldi scored on the power play at 7:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kingston and again while 5:28 into the second to make the score 3-1 Kingston.

The Voyageurs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 30 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:28 into the third period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Kingston stifled Pickering's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Voyageurs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Kingston additionally got points from Hunter Drew, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jacob Hanlon, who also had one goal and two assists, and Connor Bebb, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jack Zielinski also scored for Kingston. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Brandon Nadeau, who had three and Zachary Emelifeonwu, Reid Russell, and Ian Harris, who contributed one each.

The Panthers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Pickering had been averaging 28.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Panthers' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Kingston's power play unit.

Pickering was helped by Owen Scuralli, who tallied one goal. Scuralli scored 8:15 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kingston. Andrew Hughes picked up the assist. Pickering also got points from Hughes, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Pickering received assists from Mackenzie Heber and John Hudgin, who each chipped in one.

The Voyageurs' David Richer stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Team's Cole Beckstead and Connor Cobbold were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Mathew Woroniuk made 20 saves for the Panthers on 26 shots. Pickering registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. For the Panthers, Hughes and Justin Bennett were ejected from the contest.
