Aurora squeaks by Stouffville, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Aurora Tigers escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Stouffville Spirit.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Alex Formenton at 11:12 of the third period.

Aurora was sparked by Formenton, who tallied one goal and one assist.

The Tigers forced Stouffville goalie Aaron Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Aurora also got points from Evan Kearns, who also registered one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from James Thomson as well. In addition, Aurora received assists from Drake Board, who had two and Liam Ham and Austin Gerhart, who each chipped in one.

The Spirit struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Stouffville was helped by Nathan Hudgin, who had one goal. Hudgin scored on the power play 18:52 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Spirit had taken the advantage when Aurora's Keegan Matthew got sent off for holding. Max Novick assisted on the tally. Christopher Brill-Morgan also scored for Stouffville. More assists for Stouffville came via Alex Gilmour, Christian Papineau, and Ryan DaSilva, who contributed one each.

Alex Brooks-Potts made 23 saves for the Tigers on 25 shots. Aurora incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Taylor recorded 30 saves for Stouffville. The Spirit registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
