Aurora survives Trenton comeback, wins 3-2

The Trenton Golden Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Aurora Tigers held on for a 3-2 victory.

Aurora took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Trenton storm back on a Kevin Lavoie goal 13:40 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Drake Board was all over the ice for the Tigers, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Board scored 9:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Matthew Tozer provided the assist.

Aurora put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Golden Hawks to score on any of their four power plays.

Aurora also had goals scored by Evan Kearns and Austin Gerhart, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Jordan DaSilva and Liam Neuman, who each chipped in one.

Trenton forced the Tigers goalie Alex Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Mac Lewis, who grabbed one goal. Lewis scored 16:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Parker Grant picked up the assist. In addition, Trenton received assists from Jordan Chard and Adam Clements, who contributed one each.

Brooks-Potts rejected 30 shots on goal for Aurora. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Daniel Urbani made 21 saves for Trenton on 24 shots. The Golden Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
