Doug Carter racked up one point to lead the Pickering Panthers to a 5-2 victory over the Markham Royals.

Pickering excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Pickering also had goals scored by John Hudgin, Mitchell Waldron, Tiger McDonald, and Justin Bennett, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pickering received assists from Robert Clark and Reade MacInnis, who contributed one each.

The Panthers were unable to stop Markham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Royals eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Markham was helped by Marco Azzano, who registered one goal. Azzano scored 1:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pickering. Aaron Spivak picked up the assist. Hudson Michaelis also scored for Markham. Other players who recorded assists for Markham were Rylee St. Onge, Nick Thomakos, and Tyson Bruce, who each chipped in one.

Graham Schropp recorded 32 saves for Pickering. The Panthers incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Royals' starting goalie, Nathan Colitto, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Eric Pitcher, who stopped nine shots. Markham incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
