Toronto Jr. Canadiens beats Orangeville 4-3 after comeback scare

The Orangeville Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens held on for a 4-3 victory.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens made the score 4-1 on a goal by Nicholas Jarzabek at 17:33 in the second period, and Orangeville got as close as 4-3 when Ryan Barbosa scored 14:47 into the third period.

The Junior Canadiens were helped by Lucas Colalillo, who had one goal. Colalillo scored 2:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. George Novachis picked up the assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens additionally got points from Nico Gonzalez, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also got a goal from Adam DeLuca as well. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Dante Cannatella, Andrew Pucci, Lee Lapid, Anthony Trujillo, Jake Joffe, and Justin Maiolino, who contributed one each.

The Flyers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Orangeville ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. The Flyers forced Toronto Jr. Canadiens goalie Daniel Lopapa to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Others who scored for Orangeville included Zack Lyons and Lucas Smilsky, who each put in one. More assists for Orangeville came via Derek Topatigh, who had two and Colin Rigney, Zack Vukosa, and Daniel DiCristofaro, who each chipped in one.

Lopapa recorded 31 saves for the Junior Canadiens. Toronto Jr. Canadiens incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kasimir Krol made 26 saves for Orangeville on 30 shots. The Flyers registered two goals on two power play opportunities.
