Toronto Jr. Canadiens downs Newmarket, 5-2

The Newmarket Hurricanes fell to the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens, 5-2.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens' offense rang up 40 shots on Newmarket's net.

The Junior Canadiens were helped by Justin Maiolino, who registered one goal. Maiolino scored 1:05 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Nicholas Jarzabek picked up the assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also had goals scored by Andrew Pucci, Anthony Trujillo, Jake Joffe, and Lucas Colalillo, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Dante Cannatella, who had two and Andrew Mullen, Sal Filice, Nico Gonzalez, David Zeppieri, and Eric Eremita, who contributed one each.

The Hurricanes kept Toronto Jr. Canadiens' goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Lopapa made 37 saves on 39 shots.

Newmarket was helped by Alex Ierullo, who grabbed one goal. Ierullo scored on the power play 2:33 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The Hurricanes earned a power play opportunity when Adam DeLuca was put in the box for too many men. Nick Kalpousos assisted on the tally. Curtis Harvey also scored for Newmarket. Other players who recorded assists for Newmarket were Adam Smith, who had two.

The Junior Canadiens incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Newmarket's Connor Ryckman stopped 35 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Newmarket, Andrew Breda was ejected from the game.
